I have a new birthday tradition, on August 1st every year all I want to do is make baggie ice cream. My wonderful mom came up with the idea, we did it for my birthday three years ago and I suggested we do it again this year. It was a huge success! Perhaps it's the combination of family, the canyon, and ice cream that makes it so appealing, whatever it is, it's delightful, and easy too.
Here's how you do it:
Step 1: Mix whipping cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla, and fruit/candy in a ziploc bag.
Step 2: Put the baggie of ingredients in a big ziploc bag of ice and rock salt.
Step 3: Wrap the bag with news paper and duct tape, be sure to use lots and lots of tape to keep the newspaper from ripping and your hands from freezing. David could have used a bit more tape, by the end his was thrashed.
Step 4: Pass shake, roll, toss, jiggle, rattle the soon to be ice cream for about 20 minutes.
